Coldplay say they have exceeded their emissions target for the world tour

Coldplay have announced that they have achieved great success in their efforts to reduce their impact on the environment during their world tour. They have exceeded their target for reducing carbon emissions for live shows, demonstrating a strong commitment to further environmental behavior, writes CNN

At the beginning of this commitment, in 2019, the group suspended the tour to improve the ways of their performances in environmental terms. Two years later, Coldplay returned to the Music of the Spheres tour and announced an ambitious plan to halve the production, shipping and travel emissions of the band and crew.

Through a series of innovative measures, such as using energy generated by audiences dancing on kinetic dance floors and riding modified bikes, Coldplay have managed to reduce their emissions by 59% compared to their previous stadium tour in 2016 -17. These figures have been verified by the MIT Environmental Solutions Initiative, reports CNN further.

Coldplay is grateful to the fans and everyone who contributed to their environmental efforts, including those who used sustainable transport, refillable water bottles and planted trees with their ticket purchases. They also made a commitment to plant a tree for every ticket sold for their shows.

The global stadium tour began in Costa Rica in March 2022 and is expected to continue until the end of the year, appearing in various countries around the world such as Finland, Greece, Australia and New Zealand. On this journey, the group has reported planting 7 million trees and powering 18 shows with recycled BMW i3 batteries, diverting 72% of tourist waste from landfills.

However, Coldplay acknowledges that there is still work to be done and appreciates the ongoing efforts by them and others in the music industry to achieve the required environmental standards. In an interview with CNN in 2022, Chris Martin emphasized their goal to prove that capitalism can be environmentally conscious and caring, concluding that this is not just an exercise in charity, but a genuine commitment to change. stable.
